HALSWELL JUNCTION ROAD CHANGE

Recently the Christchurch City Council released its Annual Plan for review, and submissions were sought on the planned extension of Halswell Junction Road. The proposed change will relocate the end of Halswell Junction Road away from the residential area on Foremans and Waterloo Road and bring it through to the Business Park connecting to the northwest at Pound Road.

The Waterloo team undertook a mailbox drop to a range of neighbouring properties who would be impacted by the change to inform them of the plans and how it would impact on their neighbourhood. The response from residents was positive with many agreeing that reducing noise and pollution in residential streets was a good outcome. Most agreed that the current intersection of Halswell Junction and Waterloo Roads is dangerous and in need of an upgrade. Shifting it to bring industrial traffic through the Business Park will make the residential area safer and keep traffic flows down.
